Marciana Marina

The small town of Marciana Marina, located on the North-West side of the island of Elba, at a glance appears to us like something romantic, especially during the sunset hours, while the sun disappears behind the tower of the marina that dominates the port, now become the symbol of the town to dive into the sea between the island of Capraia and Corsica.

Marciana Marina is renowned for having a very small area of territorial extension that places it in the ranking at the penultimate place among the smallest municipalities in Italy.

Very picturesque is the village of Cotone, the ancient romantic fishing village where it seems that time has stopped. The Via del Cotone is an evocative place: flowered balconies, small squares, old buildings perched on the rocks overlooking the sea with the colorful facades eroded by the salty winds and the boats pulled dry just under the door of the house.

The extensive promenade, decorated with a centuries-old row of tamarisks, lends itself to pleasant walks that lead to the port of the village.

At the entrance to the port is the ancient Torre degli Appiani, which some believe to be of Pisan origin. In the center, in Piazza Vittorio Emanuele, we must also mention the church of Santa Chiara, dating back to 1776.
